#1 Takmak Fort
Picture perfect is what trekkers and travel enthusiasts describe ‘Takmak Fort’ as. The Fort has a rich history that dates back to the 12th century and was used as a watch-over tower to keep track of enemies. Takmat Fort was then won over by the famous Shivaji Maharaj. You got to get up there, to discover the full story. Campers assemble at Sakawar village, which is at the base of the Fort. Thereafter, walking through the dense forests is a surreal experience and a great chance to connect with mother nature. En route, there are plenty of streams that might get your shoes wet. Once you reach the Fort, you can spot the Navra-Navri twin peaks that stand tall in the same territory. Acclaimed to give you the best views of the Western Ghat, this destination should definitely be on your checklist. Unbelievably, the base village is just 20 minutes from the main Virar Railway Station, making it accessible for all.
#2 Great Escape Water Park
Take a bus from Virar Station and drive down 16 km to reach the Great Escape Water Park. Mumbai gets really hot during the summer and hence there is no better alternative to cool down than to visit a Water Park. We promise you wouldn’t be able to curtail your excitement, as there are a dozen of adventure activities to do here. Splash your way through the 40 feet high slide, which is what people come here for. If you are scared of heights, there are other mini slides too. This great picnic destination comes full circle with a DJ onboard playing foot-tapping songs. Enjoy rain dance, relax in the lazy river, play with your children in the kid’s pool, and try your luck at the Games Zone, only at the Great Escape Water Park.

However, remember to be responsible citizens and dispose of all your snack packets & empty water bottles in a dustbin or carry them with you to the resort for disposal.
#4 Jivdani Devi Temple
Temples are of great significance to the Hindu culture and paying regular visits is considered pious. Each temple has its own story, and so does Jivdani Devi Temple. During the regime of Pandavas, a cave was carved on the mountain top and the Yoga Linga of Ekaveera Devi was installed in one of the holes. They called the Goddess Bhagvati Jeevadhani (Goddess who is the wealth of life). Once a woman who had no children visited the temple for blessings and asked for progeny. The Goddess did grant her wishes and that of many others. As of today, thousands of devotees visit the Devi temple and bow down to her miracles. One has to climb about 1465 steps to reach the hill where the sanctorum sanctum is located. It is indeed a picturesque ascend to the hills that fuse with the Satpura Range.
